Gagamel boss Bebe Cool has advised Ugandan musicians to seek approval from the local fan base before targeting the international market.

In an interview with Urban TV, Bebe Cool explained musicians should work hard and win the love of Ugandans before jumping on anything which is seen as global.

"Before turning focus to international audiences, first establish yourself locally and this can be achieved only through local styles, Kidandali and Kadongo Kamu," he said.

He believes this has helped him, Bobi wine, Chameleone, and Eagles production to earn a lot of cash mostly from the upcountry performances.

"Ugandan musicians should know that Eagles production, Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool, and Chameleone didn't make their money from Kampala. We minted our cash from the villages," he added.

Bebe Cool is ranked among the richest musicians in East Africa.
