Property worth Millions of shillings is destroyed in a fire that gutted Williams’ hill Day and Boarding Primary School in Masaka last evening.

The school is located in Bulayi L.C 1, Mukungwe Sub County about 10 miles from Masaka town along the Nyendo-Bukakata road.

The fire mysteriously broke out destroying a boys’ dormitory structure and property Valued at Millions of shillings. None of the pupils was injured.

Ronald Kasekende, the School deputy headmaster says that although they tirelessly worked to put off the fire, they could not save the property most of which was already burnt by the time rescuers arrived. The structure accommodated 100 pupils.

Joan Nakibuuka, one of the parents from the neighborhood suspects that the fire started from the main entrance before steadily spreading to the ceiling. Nakibuuka adds that the roof top had already collapsed by the time fire fighters arrived.

Patrick Ssembuusi, the Masaka District Fire officer, says that preliminary investigations show that the fire could was possibly sparked off by poor wiring in the dormitory.
