Police in Mbarara has released on bond two prime suspects in the murder of a secondary school student in Mbarara.

Elvis Ainemukama, a senior 6 student of Rwentojo secondary school was beaten by students of Mbarara University of Science and Technology- MUST who suspected him of stealing a laptop belonging to their colleague Suzan Aguti.

It is alleged that they locked him up inside their residence in Kiswahili cell Kakoba division in Mbarara and tortured him to death.

Police moved in after a tip off from one of the residents and rushed Ainemukama to Mbarara referral hospital where he died on arrival.

Polly Namaye, the Rwizi regional police spokes person says eight students were arrested in connection to the murder. They include Agnes Namusoke, Aaron Nuwamanya, Mutaremwa Park, Adam Fida, and Brain Muhwezi.

Others are Jonathan Manige, Suzan Aguti and Mutaremwa Byamukama.

However, Susan Aguti the owner of the laptop and her friend Namusoke have been released on bond to enable them backup police in the ongoing investigations.

She says after investigations, they will be arraigned in court to answer charges of murder.
