Forty passengers have been injured in a road accident in Kyenjojo district involving a trailer and a bus belonging to Link Bus Company, which occurred last night at Katobire in Rugombe, along the Fort Portal-Kyenjojo road.

Forty passengers have been injured in a road accident in Kyenjojo district involving a trailer and a bus belonging to Link Bus Company, which occurred last night at Katobire in Rugombe, along the Fort Portal-Kyenjojo road.

Samuel Bagonza, an eyewitness said that the Fort Portal bound trailer reg. No. UAM 198T was avoiding a motorcyclist when it rammed into the speeding bus in the opposite direction.

The bus reg.no UAM 476F overturned several times and plunged into a valley. Initial reports indicated that all passengers in the bus were dead.

However David Kwehamba, the officer in-charge traffic in Kyenjojo district, said that some of the passengers sustained broken arms and limbs.

The injured passengers were taken to Kyenjojo hospital, Butiti Health center III and Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital. No fatality has been reported so far.
