Katabazi George (born Katabazi Deus; 20 May 1987), better known as GKatz, is a Ugandan a multi-media Artistknown predominantly for his Graphics branding workand Actor. He received one nomination for "Best Actor in a Leading Role" and "Best Upcoming Actor" in 2019.

Eary life

George was born Kitanga village, Rukiga county, Kabale District- south western UgandanowRukiga district to a Mukiga father and a amuhororo mother who hails from Rukungiri district. His father died when he was seven years old. Due to the early death of his father Katabazi has stated that he is very close to his Uncle Mr. BwengyeEdward and considers him his hero.

He grew up in Mbarara Town, where he attended JAY- BEE International School(His primary school) and ST. KagwaBushenyi High School  for O’level and Kinaawa High School – Kawempe, Kampala for A ‘level.

He obtained a  Bachelors of Industrial and Fine Art from Uganda Christian University – Mukono and a Certificate in Graphics and Animation from Global Institute of Information Technology and Business –Makerere.
He is a lecturer at the Department of ICT – Kibeho Training Institute MbararaUganda where he teaches ICT,Graphics and Animation. In 2016 after which he pursued a career in acting.

Career / Television

George started out in the entertainment world in Explosives Records later joined Magic studio as a marketier and song writer (2015–2018).

His Acting career kicked off when he starred in the TV west – Uganda local film premiering “Gagumire-by kigezi universal actors”. George has since then appeared in Ankole City Actors films starring as the lead role.) George appeared on Television “Had I known (Kulinamanyire)”, which depicted family betrayal life and land eviction.

Music Career 

He started singing in 2015 when he outed katemambire(All take local brew) Received huge air play on many medias... later continued with many more hits like Ekyanakyomukiga(a son of apeasant)

Film

George was cast in his first film Had I known (Kulinamanyire) Love as a supporting character. This film coincidentally was also the debut roles for fellow actors KakandeHabibu and Nakintu Harriet who were cast in the female and male lead respectively.

George is usually cast as the male romantic lead, often alongside actresses. He is often compared to Ugandan actor Mushanaof Banyakitara western actors.

Success

George has directed, starred in, and produced two films under his GKatz Productions and Ankole City Actors since 2016. 2018 was the biggest year for his production house, earning him the popularity in western Uganda as thebest actor and Director for his filmKulinamanyire Had I known.

Personal life and other projects

George is married to Gloria Katabaziand they currently have one son named Birungi Wisdom. He is the CEO of GKatz designers for graphics and animations, The Western Advertiser magazine, GKatz Productionsa film production house and Ankole City Actors which is an entertainment platform that units and develops youth talents in Uganda. Training facility is the latest entrepreneurship of George, where students are trained in the field in acting, graphics and animation by professionals.
