Derrick Tha Priest, real name; Derrick Muhiirwa Mutekanga is a poet and a rapper from Uganda who engaged his musical talent in school (Namilyango College & Kitende S.S.S) during rap cypher sessions every Friday with friends, under the theme “Freestyle Friday”.  He shortly after that met the Lord Jesus Christ, and now born again, Derrick decided to record a song in praise of his God and that was the start of a journey as a Christian rap artist. He went to Architecture school (Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi) where he kept developing his talent as an artist and decided to take his music pursuits more seriously after graduation in 2016.

Derrick who always desired to serve God in some way now goes by the alias Derrick Tha Priest and is working on a number of music projects that will be released in the year 2017. This is Derrick’s way of painting a picture for the world to see his perspective on life, contrasting life before Jesus with after Jesus.
