Liverpool have offered £22m for Real Madrid's 24-year-old Russia winger Denis Cheryshev. (Sunday People) 

Having agreed a deal to sign World Cup-winning midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich, Manchester United will now look to secure Valencia's 27-year-old centre-back Nicolas Otamendi. (Daily Star Sunday) 

However, Schweinsteiger's impending arrival at Old Trafford will not end manager Louis van Gaal's pursuit of Southampton's 25-year-old France midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. (Manchester Evening News) 

Meanwhile, Manchester United have told Real Madrid they want Spain defender Sergio Ramos, 29, and Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas, 28, in return for United's Spain goalkeeper David De Gea, 24, who has been targeted by Real. (Marca) 

United are also pursuing Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke. The 24-year-old would be a cheaper option than Napoli's 27-year-old forward Gonzalo Higuain and Bayern's 25-year-old forward Thomas Muller. (Sun - subscription required) 

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing an offer for Everton's £20m-rated midfielder James McCarthy, 24 . (Sunday Mirror)

Meanwhile, former Leicester midfielder Neil Lennon, now manager at Bolton Wanderers, has played down speculation linking him to the vacant manager's job at his former club. Bournemouth are interested in signing Queens Park Rangers' 26-year-old striker Charlie Austin and are set to make a £7.5m bid for Nottingham Forest's 25-year-old winger Michail Antonio. (Star on Sunday) 

Arsenal are deciding whether to make a surprise move for £10m-rated Manchester United defender Jonny Evans, 27, who is also wanted by West Bromwich Albion. (Sunday Mirror) 

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers has rejected an offer to spend next season on loan at his old club Southampton. The 20-year-old joined the Gunners from Saints in the summer of 2014. (Sun - subscription required) 

Chelsea have expressed an interest in signing 26-year-old Internacional midfielder Charles Aranguiz, who was one of Chile's best performers at the World Cup last summer. Arsenal and Manchester City have also scouted the player. (Mail on Sunday)
