Uganda has officially qualified to feature in 14th Netball World cup showpiece to be held from 7th-16 August 2015 in Sydney, Australia.

The She Cranes team only needed a 58-38 victory over Swaziland in their fourth game of the on-going Netball World Cup qualifiers for Africa in Gaborone, Botswana. The poorly funded team began with a win over Zambia before snatching another against Zimbabwe then dispatched Botswana.

With one game left for them, the East African team took a run-away lead 15-8, 33-25 in the first and second quarters respectively, before eventually emerging winners and topping the round robin event with eight points.

Uganda will play Namibia Friday in a formality game. Uganda has joined Malawi and South Africa to represent Africa at World Cup. The other fourth team be known later Thursday. The World Netball Championships is a quadrennial international netball world championship coordinated by the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA), inaugurated in 1963.

Since its inception the competition has been dominated primarily by the Australian national netball team (Australian Diamonds) and the New Zealand national netball team (New Zealand Silver Ferns). The most recent tournament was the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore, which was won by Australia.

In 1960, representatives from Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies met to discuss standardizing the rules of the sport. This led to the establishment of the International Federation of Women's Basketball and Netball (which later became the International Federation of Netball Associations).

Formal rules were established at this inaugural meeting and a decision to hold World Championship tournaments every four years was also made. The first World Netball Championship was held in 1963 and was hosted by England. Since then there have been 12 more tournaments.
