Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has released a 40 man squad for preparations ahead of the 2017 AFCON Finals in Gabon.

The details of the preparations will be released later by the Uganda Cranes technical team.

‘We have announced squad of 40 players -5 goalkeepers, 12 defenders, 15 midfielders and 8 strikers that will compete for places 23 players . The final group that will represent Uganda after 39 years of absence from the AFCON Finals’ said Micho

‘We selected a blend of experience and youth who are the future of Ugandan football where. No body will be gifted and awarded place as from now on the counter is on zero where all 40 players are in healthy competition to earn and deserve to be in the final 23’ added the Serbian coach.

Here is the 40 man Squad

Goal Keepers:

Onyango Denis, Odongkara Robert, Jamal Salim, Isma Watenga, Ochan Benjamin

Isma Watenga (L) is one of the 5 goalkeepers summoned by Micho.

Defenders:

Iguma Denis, Nsubuga Joseph, Wadada Nicholas, Ochaya Joseph, Batambuze Shafiq, Juuko Murushid, Isaac Isinde, Mukiibi Ronald, Awanyi Timothy, Kassaga Richard, Lwaliwa Khalid, Toha Rashid.

Ochaya (R) is in the squad while Brian Umony will painfully miss the tournament due to injury. Umony scored the 2nd goal of the 2017 AFCON campaign against Botswana at Namboole.

Midfielders:

Aucho Khalid, Mawejje Tony, Wasswa Hassan, Azira Mike, Kizito Geoffrey, Kizito Keziron, Mutyaba Muzamil, Mugerwa Yassar, Sadam Juma, Oloya Moses, Kizito Luwagga William, Walusimbi Godfrey,  Mucurezi Paul, Kiiza Martin, Vitalis Tabu.

Strikers:

Miya Faruku, Massa Geoffrey, Serunkuma Geoffrey, Shaban Mohamed, Sentamu Yunus, Nsibambi Derrick, Lubega Idrisa, Sekismabu Erisa.

The historic Captain Geoffrey Massa is in the squad. He led Uganda Cranes to the dreamland after 39 years.
