Rapper Keko who recently returned toUganda after nearly a decade in Canada, has finally opened up about her once-close but now strained relationship with fellow female singer Sheebah Karungi.
During her prime as the hottest act on the rap scene, Keko's sexuality was a topic of discussion, especially given her closeness to musician Sheebah Karungi at the time. Those who knew them well recall how protective Keko was of Sheebah.
However, times have changed, and Keko revealed that their closeness is a thing of the past. They haven't spoken in years, and Keko no longer even has Sheebah's phone number.
Keko addressed the reason behind their separation, attributing it to Jeff Kiwa, the influential TNS boss who propelled Sheebah to her current success.
According to Keko, Kiwa presented Sheebah with an ultimatum: choose between him and their friendship. Sheebah opted for Kiwa, a decision Keko understands and doesn't hold against her.
"It's true, Sheebah and I used to be incredibly close," Keko admitted. "However, we lost touch, and I don't even have her number anymore. The problem arose due to Jeff Kiwa. He made her choose between our friendship and him, and she chose him. I don't blame her for that, though."
Currently, Keko is focused on rebuilding her career and has found support from Swangz Avenue, the label she was associated with in the past. Additionally, she is eager to engage in a rap battle with Navio, feeling confident in her abilities to go head-to-head with him.
When asked about other notable figures in the Ugandan music scene, Keko expressed apprehension about Gravity, citing his aggressive style. As for Recho Rey, she believes the Sekka singer still has a long way to go to reach her level of expertise.
