Recently Nkumba was closed November 17 – 19, 2014 when students went on rampage and destroyed Campus property before it was closed and Student sent home.

New on our desk, the University for re-opening! Students have been fined and asked to report back with parents, According to the statement released, it reads:

RE-OPENING OF THE UNIVERSITY

This is to inform all students of Nkumba University and the general public that following the student strike of November 17 – 19, 2014 and the subsequent closure of the University, the University Council has resolved to re-open with conditions as follows:

A: SBA QUARTER, EVENING /WEEKEND STUDENTS AND DISTANCE
LEARNING

The University shall re-open for lectures for students on both the Quarter and Semester systems (Weekend Programme) in the School of Business Administration (SBA) on Saturday December 13, 2014.

SBA students on the Quarter and Semester systems (Evening Programme) resume studies on December 15, 2014.

Distance Learning students report on January 10, 2015 for clearance /registration and Examinations that will commence on January 13, 2015.

All students on the programmes indicated above should clear all University dues as required.

B: REPORTING DATE FOR STUDENTS ON THE DAY PROGRAMME
AND CONDITIONS FOR THEM TO FULFILL:

All students on the DAY Programme report on January 19, 2015 for clearance.

In view of the extensive damage, the replacement and repairs of the vandalised University property following the student strike of November 17 – 19, 2014 ALL students on the DAY Programme are required to fulfill the following mandatory conditions:

Pay at the bank Ushs. 150,000/= (One hundred fifty thousand only) as penalty for costs of the repairs and replacement of vandalized items as well as other miscellaneous expenses caused to the University.

Pay at the bank Ushs. 50,000= (Fifty thousand shillings only) for the Commitment Form indicating that he/she will abide by the Students’ Code of Conduct / Rules and Regulations set by the University. The Commitment Form should be downloaded from the University website.

Before submission to the University, all Commitment Forms shall have to be NOTARIZED (sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths or Magistrate of the Courts of Law). Forged notaries shall lead to disciplinary measures.

The Commitment Form shall be presented to the University by the student accompanied by his/her parent, guardian or sponsor. Colour passport size photographs of both the student and the parent or guardian/sponsor must be attached to the Commitment Form.

On reporting, every student MUST present bank-slips indicating payment of Ushs. 50, 000=, Ushs.150, 000= (as directed in 1 and 2 above) and must have cleared ALL Semester I University dues.

NO STUDENT ON THE DAY PROGRAMME SHALL BE RE-ADMITTED UNLESS HE/SHE HAS FULFILLED ALL THE CONDITIONS ABOVE.

The End of August 2014 Examinations shall begin on January 28, 2015. The Examinations Time-table will be ready by the reporting date.

E: Please note that the students on the Quarter system (SBA) as
well as those on the Evening and Weekend Programme are not affected by the conditions and penalties stated in B above.
