John Ssegawa, a renowned actor, has issued a warning to singer Edirisa Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo, and other local musicians about accepting government funds.

Ssegawa, who serves as a director, stage manager, and actor at Afri-Talent Drama Group, firmly believes that the current regime is untrustworthy and will ultimately stifle musical talent by entangling artists with taxpayer money.

During a public mourning event for entertainer and former Rubaga South Parliamentary legislator Hon Kato Lubwama held at the National Theatre, Ssegawa emotionally criticized Kenzo, the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation.

He highlighted the government's excessive spending on local musicians while hospitals suffer from a lack of medicine and adequate healthcare.

Ssegawa expressed his disapproval of the newly formed local musical body, alleging that it received substantial financial support from the government to fund its daily operations.

He believes that artists like Eddy Kenzo should focus solely on their careers and avoid intertwining politics with music, as it may ultimately jeopardize their future success.
