A number of businesses have been affected by Covid-19 outbreak in Uganda and some companies are laying off, and reducing workers as way of cutting the operating costs.

An insider at Sanyu FM informed Howwe that the management decided to reduce May salaries and this didn't go well with the workers.

The employees believe that the station is exploiting them, they have decided to go on a strike.

A source informed this website that non of the presenters went on air on Monday because of this particular reason.

“Yeah! So, Sanyu FM decided to cut salaries for all presenters  starting with the month of May, alleging that they have been hit hard due to Covid-19. But workers know they have been making money. If you are wondering why there is no presenters on air currently, this is the reason,” an insider revealed.

Other companies like Vision Group have also laid off employees to cope with the effects of Covid-19.
