Betty Kamya Bounces Back As MP Candidate For Rubaga North

Female presidential contender in the 2011 general elections, and President Uganda Federal Alliance Betty Olive Namisango Kamya has bounced back as a candidate in the Member of Parliament race ahead of the 2016 general elections.

Kamya was this afternoon nominated at the UMA show grounds Lugogo for the Rubaga North constituency.

Shortly after her nomination, Kamya told the media that she had stood in 2011 to launch the federal governance message, and now wants to take it to parliament.

“My objective last time in 2011 was loud and clear to everybody; I went for presidential candidate to enable me to go around the country to launch my new party and also to launch the federal agenda around the country, so that it stops being a Buganda issue but a national issue. This time, I’m taking the federal agenda to parliament.” Said Kamya.

She is standing as an independent candidate.

Other nominees include; City comedian turned politician Kato Lubwama MP Rubaga South, one of the four NRM rebel MPs turned independent, Muhammad Nsereko MP Kampala Central, former Makindye division mayor Dr. Ian Clarke MP Makindye East, Medard Ssegona Mp Busiro East, UPC controversial president Jimmy Akena MP Lira Municipality, Minister for presidency and KCCA affairs Frank Tumwebaze MP Kibale County, out spoken Odonga Otto MP Aruu south County.

Others are political comedian Ken Lukyamuzi Lubaga south, former Vice President turned comedian Gilbert Bukenya Busiro, TV presenter Simon Kagwa Njaraa MP Busiro South, Latif Ssebagala Kawempe North, new Internal Affairs Minister Rose Akol nominated for Bukedea Woman MP, and FDC publicist Ssemujju Nganda MP Kyadondo East.

The exercise is still ongoing throughout today and tomorrow Thursday December 2nd.
