The National Unity Platform, NUP Party Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has been welcomed by hundreds of supporters in Iganga on his way to Namisindwa for a campaign rally.

Kyagyulanyi was forced by police to travel alone without his new medical and security teams after police blocked them all and also impounded the cars used by media.

According to Kyagulanyi, police said he was not allowed to move with his security, medical and media teams. “This is the level of impunity that we are dealing with. But no matter what the regime does” he said.

Despite travelling without a convoy, Kyagulanyi found hundreds of people waiting for him in Iganda and some of these are currently following him on foot as he heads to Namisindwa, his campaign venue for today.

Many people moved out of their shops to catch a glimpse of Kyagulanyi as he made his way through Iganga town. Unlike other places where the candidate was not allowed to go through urban centres, today security forces have left him to make his way through Iganga town.

“After imprisoning our entire campaign team, today they blocked the new medical and security teams and also impounded the media cars. They said I must go to the campaign alone. They thought that would affect the support we have from the people. This is us going through Iganga on our way to Namisindwa. This is a revolution” he noted.
