The police have blocked opposition ironman Dr. Kiiza Besigye from leaving his home to the High Court this morning.

Besigye was instructed to report to the High Court criminal division deputy registrar as part of the Bail conditions in his treason case.

“Today, I've been stopped from going to court! MPs want Parliament recalled to debate Besigye siege” Besigye wrote in his twitter handle.

Besigye could not leave home after police heavily deployed outside his home with heavy barricades. The four-time presidential candidate says he pleaded with them to let him go, in vain.

“No amount of "pleading" could get sense into heads of all these police officers to respect the law & my rights! I can't attend court today.”

Besigye is charged with treason for attempting to swear himself in as president of Uganda in May 2016. He has since accepted that he swore himself in and formed what he terms as “the people’s government” asking Court to quickly hear the case and decide instead of wasting his time.

Besigye had also planned to attend funeral service of his friend Mrs Enid Turitwenka at All Saints' Church. He decried failure to even get someone to deliver his wreath!

“I've failed to attend funeral service of our friend Mrs Enid Turitwenka at All Saints' Church. Can't even get someone to deliver my wreath!”

It is not clear what court’s decision will be, after today’s scenes.
