Police has denied as rumors statements on social media that the inspector General of Police, Gen. Kare Kayihura has been summoned by the Makindye chief Magistrates court.

Addressing the media at the police head offices in Naguru, police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the IGP has not received such a summons, and if at any moment he does, the police legal team will be ready to defend him.

According to Enanga, the IGP cannot be intimidated by such rumors.

A document has been making rounds indicating that court has summoned the IGP, Gen. Kale Kayihura, RPC Kampala East Andrew Kagwa, head of operations Kampala metropolitan, James Ruhweza, commander field force unit Samuel Bamuzibire, commander in charge of operations field force unit, Kampala metropolitan south, Patrick Muhumuza, RPC Kampala North, Wesley Nganizi, Deputy regional police commander, Northern, Geoffrey Kahebwa; wandegeya divisional police commander, Moses Nanoka, and other police men and commanders still at large.

The fake letter also has a signature of some anonymous chief magistrate summoning the officers to appear before the same court on August 10th 2016.

Enanga warns those spreading the fake document to stop as it is illegal.
