The Nakawa Chief Magistrate James Ereemye Mawanda will on July 29th 2016 release a report with findings on what his team discovered during his visit to Luzira on Thursday.
Mawanda on Thursday fulfilled his promise and paid a visit to Luzira Prison to assess the condition of Dr Kizza Besigye and other inmates.
He made it clear that the visit was to all inmates and not Besigye as an individual.
Mawanda explained that the DCC had made earlier plans to visit the detention center as part of its circuit.
“The visit is to brace the judiciary with the concerns which affect the prisons service.”
Journalists were barred from attending a meeting which was held before the tour of the facilities commenced.
Journalists were asked to stay outside the prison premises for over seven hours.
Opposition leaders who had showed up for the tour were also initially stopped from attending the meeting but after a heated exchange, they were allowed in.
These were led by the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Ssemujju Nganda, the FDC party spokesperson.
The Chief Magistrate's visit comes after concerns by Besigye on fears for his life while in prison.
