President Yoweri Museveni and commander in chief of the armed forces has today appointed a new Chairman of the General Court Martial.

The Makindye based court will now be chaired by Lt. Gen. Andrew Gutti, replacing the late Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga who passed on last month of a heart attack.
The UPDF spokesperson Lt. Col Paddy Ankunda confirmed this development in a tweet.

“Lt Gen Andrew Gutti replaces late Maj Gen Levy Karuhanga as the new chairman for General Court Martial,” Lt. Col. Ankunda tweeted.

Lt. Gen Gutti has previously served as commander of the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) like the late Karuhanga.

Gutti served AMISOM between 2012 and 2013 after being moved from the commandant of the Uganda Senior Command and Staff College at Kimaka in Jinja.
