The opposition Democratic Party, DP has rooted for the respect of all Ugandan workers who are involved in nation building.
Addressing the media in Kampala this morning, the party publicity secretary, Kenneth Paul Kakande said; “We want the Ugandan worker to know that DP has a well formulated employment policy with consideration for a minimum wage to support job creation especially for the youths, stimulating the economy, reducing expenses on social programs and reducing the turnover rate, job security and ratification of the international labour Organization recommendations.”
According to Kakande, they also support the need for a salaries and Emoluments Commission that will help in determining what kind of labour gets which pay so that the country does away with the discrepancies of some public officials earning astronomically while others get peanuts.
Uganda will on Sunday May 1st 2016, join the rest of the world to celebrate the International Labour day. The national celebrations will be held in Hoima. The theme is yet to be communicated.
DP argues that under President Museveni and NRM government, while income of some employees may rise, others remain unemployed, and nothing is being done.
