Fresh clashes have erupted in Bundibugyo leaving five people dead.

According to reports, it all started as a simple theft case of cocoa in Bundibugyo district, Rwenzori subregion last night, but graduated into a bloody and ethnic war.

By today morning, two people had died and one injured but later the death toll rose to five about five hours later.

The Resident District Commissioner Geoffrey Mucunguzi who confirmed the death of five people saying that the incident is still under investigation.

Mucunguzi confirmed that he had transported two bodies to the mortuary from Kirumya, and the dead were 5 including one person shot by police.

According to the RDC, chaos is in Kirumya, Ngamba and Ntontoro sub counties, while authorities are still investigating the cause of the clashes on whether they are elements to destabilize government.

Police had earlier on, confirmed the death of two people who were allegedly attacked and stabbed to death by by unknown assailants last night in Kikalizo village, Ntontoro sub County.

One house in the area has been burnt and properties looted.
