The General Court Martial has bowed to pressure from the High Court and stayed the trial of former chief intelligent officer Gen. David Sejusa.

The development follows a ruling by High Court Justice Oumo Oguli who yesterday stayed Gen Sejusa’s trial until his miscellaneous application is disposed off.

The General Court Martial Chairman Major Levi Karuhanga who was this morning shown the order staying the proceedings from the High court by the defense counsel David Mushabe, complied and said that his court would as requested put on hold the proceedings until the case in High Court is done.

However, the army spy master could not be relased on bail as earlier requested, but was rather advised to reapply for bail in the High Court’s Criminal Division which his lawyers have already done.

Gen David Sejusa was arrested from his home in Naguru by military police operatives in January this year and faces cases ranging from insubordination, to getting involved in partisan politics as opposed to the military laws.
