The Electoral Commission has acted on orders of the chief justice and delivered to the Supreme Court, copies of all district tally sheets and result declaration forms which were used for tallying votes in last month’s general election.

At the same time, copies were also delivered to the petition legal team which is challenging the outcome of the election in which National Resistance Movement-NRM party candidate Yoweri Museveni emerged winner. The team is representing former presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi.

Yesterday, Chief Justice Bart Katureebe ordered lawyers representing the second respondent (EC) in the famous petition, MacDusman Kabega, and Enos Tusiime, to provide court with the forms.

This followed a query by Mbabazi's lawyer Severino Twinobusingye that the Electoral Commissions had failed to serve them with copies of the results declaration forms.

He said the copies of the DR forms that the Commission filed in the registry of the Supreme Court were smuggled in without their notice and don't include the scanned copies from which the final results were declared.

Enos Tumusiime, the Electoral Commission lawyer had earlier told the Justices of the Supreme Court that vote counting, tallying and declaration of results complied with the law.
