The chairman electoral commission Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu has this morning issued last moment guidelines ahead of tomorrow’s general elections warning media houses against airing any more campaign messages.

According to Dr. Kiggundu, Yesterday was the last day for campaigns, therefore no media house should air campaigns & candidates shouldn't be campaigning either.

He also says the commission will be informing the public of what will be taking place in intervals of 2hrs starting tomorrow morning.

He warns that only presiding officers and agents are allowed to carry phones to polling stations but not permitted to take photos.

This warning comes in after human rights bodies and candidates advised all Ugandans to carry phones and use social media or phone calls to report any irregularities.

Dr. Kiggundu explains that a ballot paper has over 4 indexes including the party symbol and name of candidate as well as voting box, so in case a voter makes a mistake on their ballot paper, they have a right to ask a polling officer for another paper.

He assures Ugandans that whatever they place in the ballot boxes is what he will declare, and “on Saturday before 4pm, the Electoral commission will have announced the winning candidate.”
