President Yoweri Museveni has officially launched the Kayoola Solar Bus at serena hotel Kampala this afternoon.

In his speech, Museveni congratulated heads of the project Prof Tickodri, Eng Musasizi, Makerere VC Ssentamu and Makerere University as a whole upon the achievement.

Former Makerere Chancellor Prof. Mondo Kagonyera told the president that kiira motors needs shs 470Bn to set up plant.

In his reponse, Museveni said government has allocated 100 acres of land in Jinja Industrial Park for the plant.

Kayoola bus is the first of its kind on the African Continent.

These are Museveni’s words at the launch as posted by State house;

"Congratulations to Prof Tickodri, Eng Musasizi, VC of Makerere University. The people who are saying Uganda's Education has gone down are just joking look at all the innovations.

Why didn't you invite all these opposition leaders to see for themselves. This is the best way to go with clean energy much as we earn income from other sources of energy.

The state is going to support scientists."
