The interreligious council, in collaboration with the elders’ forum, and the National Consultative forum have officially confirmed Saturday 13th this month as the date for the next and second presidential debate.

The announcement was made this morning during a press conference at the interreligious council offices in Naksero Kampala by the Mufti Sheikh Ramadan Mubajje.

“We have earnestly embarked on preparations for the second and final debate scheduled for Saturday 13th February, 2016, at the Serena Hotel to be held from 6:00pm to 12:00midnight.”

According to Mufti Mubajje, judging from public opinion, the debate registered a resounding victory as it was a timely and indispensable intervention for building a peaceful, stable and democratic society in Uganda.

He added: “We encourage all our presidential candidates to participate in this very important engagement. It will specifically focus on the following topics; Peace and Security; Governance and the Rule of law; Regional Integration; International Trade and Investment; and Foreign policy.”

Chairman Elders’ forum, James Ogoola said they would invite all 8 presidential candidates, but its upon them to appear and speak to voters.

There was controversy after president Yoweri Museven refused to attend the former debate held on Friday January 15th 2016 at the Kampala Serena hotels, claiming he was busy with his campaign schedule.
