The police in Kyankwanzi are investigating the double murders of Buzaire Aureria a 78y ear old woman and her relative Kalani Eriazela aged 85 years both residents of Rwengaju village, Igara parish, Kyankwanzi sub-county, in Kyankwanzi district.
The deceased persons have been staying in different homesteads but in the same village.
According to Asp Racheal Kawala PRO Wamala, it is alleged that on 24/05/2022 at around 2:00 pm, Kalani left his home to pay a visit to Aureria at her home.
However, at about 4:00 pm, a herdsman identified as Kankunda Sayuni Kapimpi returned home and discovered the two persons murdered, and their bodies lying in a pool of blood.
Preliminary facts show that Aureria had earlier been seen at her home with Muhirwe another casual worker.
But, at the time the two bodies were discovered, Muhirwe had fled the home.
Police were informed and rushed to the scene of the crime. Relevant witness statements have been recorded and a postmortem has also been done.
Kawala says they have arrested Muhirwe Oresity who is currently detained at Kyankwanzi police station to help with investigations.
