Police in Kabale is hunting for a woman who allegedly stole a one year and eight months old baby boy from its parents’ home.

Police in Kabale is hunting for a woman who allegedly stole a one year and eight months old baby boy from its parents’ home.

The victim has been identified as Joshua Ahumuza son to Alfonse Tumuhimbise and Anet Rukundo residents of Kikungiri cell, Mwanjari ward Southern division Kabale district.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Region PRO, it is alleged that on the 30/01/2022 at around 12:00hrs an unidentified woman went to the home of Tumuhimbise and lied to the house maid that she was an aunt to the two children, the victim and a seven years old.

Tumuhimbise and his wife had gone for their usual work.

The suspect deceived the maid that she had talked to Rukundo their mother who said was coming back from work at around 16:00hrs, and deceitfully got both children to go with her to the shop, about 200meters away from the home.

However, she sent the older child back home to allegedly ask the maid if she needed anything too, but when the child went back, she had disappeared with the baby.

They called the parents who immediately started searching for the child, in vain. The case was reported to Kabale CPS and efforts are underway to find the suspect and recover the child.

The suspect is said to have been dressed in red dress, had a face mask, with plated hair covered with a piece of cloth.
