Students at Kyambogo University can now access the campus with bags, after the ban on the same was lifted.

In the aftermath of the November twin bombings in Kampala, the university directed students to stop carrying bags for security purposes.

The University Secretary on Tuesday released a circular indicating that only specific laptop bags, small bags for females and light bags would be accepted after thoroughly checking at the gate.

Following the November twin bomb explosions in Kampala, several universities issued directives stopping students from carrying bags to the campus as one of the measures to guard against terror threats.
Other universities that issued the directive include Makerere University Business School-MUBS, Ndejje University, and Mbarara University.

The development comes after students petitioned the administration this week to have the ban lifted because their property was being damaged by rain.

At Makerere University Business School-MUBS and Makerere University, students have been freely accessing the university with their bags after relaxing on the previous security measures.

The students are now required to present either a student Identity card or a National Identity card for non-students, in addition to checking bags at key entry points.
