RDC sets timeline for police to re-arrest suspects who escaped from police cells in Nabilatuk District 

According to Michael Longole the Karamoja Regional police Spokesperson, a team of Regional Crime Intelligence Officers is Nabilatuk have set out to investigate how the suspects escaped.

Six suspects are on the run following their escape from police custody in Nabilatuk district. A joint security team has been formed to search for the suspect who broke out of the cells at Nabilatuk Central Police Station on Monday night where they were being held pending their appearance in court to among others charges of rape, defilement and theft.  

According to Michael Longole the Karamoja Regional police Spokesperson, a team of Regional Crime Intelligence Officers is Nabilatuk have set out to investigate how the suspects escaped.

He added that should they find out that there was negligence, the officer on duty will be arrested and charged with negligence.

Nabilatuk district Resident District Commissioner Milton Odongo has tasked police to trace and re-arrest the suspects within three days because this makes the community lose trust in the force. 

Members of the general public are faulting police for being negligent and want the officers who were on duty to be held responsible for the escape of the suspects.
