Police in Kakumiro district are searching for three armed thugs who robbed a businesswoman of Shillings 4millionn when they raided her hardware shop.
The victim has been identified as Justine Kesande, a prominent businesswoman in Kikora trading center in Kikora parish in Kikora sub-county. The incident happened on Saturday evening.
It is alleged that the thugs attacked Keande and placed her at gunpoint before ordering her to surrender all the money she had in her possession to them in vain. The thugs then fired several bullets in the air, which prompted her to surrender a bag containing Shillings 4million to them.
The thugs were allegedly riding on a Bajaj motorcycle with covered number plates and also fled the scene while firing in the air after completing their mission.
According to Julius Hakiza the Albertine region police spokesperson, they have launched a manhunt for the thugs. Scene of crime officers recovered a cartridge from the crime scene, which is expected to aid their investigations into the robbery.
