One person has been arrested by the Police in Masaka District for allegedly killing three Boda Boda cyclists.

One person has been arrested by the Police in Masaka District for allegedly killing three Boda Boda cyclists.   

The suspect is Steven Katungi who was arrested on Wednesday in a joint operation, while his accomplice Moses Walusimbi, a resident of Kijjabwemi village in Masaka city escaped.

Police also recovered a motorcycle whose owner Joseph Ssebandeke, had been attacked by iron bar hitmen. The victim is currently in critical condition at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.  

Three Boda Boda riders have been killed in three weeks’ time and their motorcycles are stolen.

Muhammad Nsubuga, the Southern Regional Police spokesperson identifies the deceased as; Huzaifah Mawanda of Kyabakuza stage, Joseph Mukasa of Masaka Lands Zonal offices stage and Emmanuel Kayondo of Ssenya village in Masaka City.   

Mawanda and Mukasa’s bodies were dumped in the bush in Kyabumba village, Buwunga Sub County, while Kayondo was found by the roadside at Ssenya village.  

Nsubuga says that the police tracking for other members of the racket.
He warned the Boda Boda cyclists to desist from carrying passengers at night.
