Police are investigating circumstances underwhich a defilement suspect was found dead in a cell at Busano police post, Mbale.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson identifies the deceased as 25-year-old Ronald Namanda, a resident of Busano village, who was arrested on Sunday over aggravated defilement and locked up at Busano police post where he is said to have committed suicide on Monday using his pair of trousers.
According to Taitika, they were still processing the suspect’s file to present him to court when he was found dead. The suspect was alone in the cells when he took his own life.
The deceased’s body was conveyed to Mbale City mortuary pending postmortem
