Police in Entebbe have arrested four men in connection to the murder of a six-year-old child. The deceased is Eriya Were Kato who went missing on July 3, 2021.
Were’s father reported to Kasenyi Police Station and a case of disappearance was opened up.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire the PRO KMP, on July 5th, the child’s father received a phone call from an unknown person asking for a ransom of Shs4 million.
However, he was able to recognize the voice of the caller as Moses Kaye and informed the police and the suspect was arrested.
Kaye was arrested and upon interrogation, the suspect on Tuesday led the police to a nearby thicket, about 200m from the Were's home, where the body of Were was found in a decomposing state.
The body has been conveyed to Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem.
Owoyesigyire says three other suspects have been arrested to help with the investigation and will be arraigned in courts of law as soon as investigations are done.
He appealed to the public to remain vigilant about the whereabouts of their kids during this lockdown.
