Police have cordoned off the home of Kayunga District LCV Chairperson Ffefeka Sserubugo who was found hanging on a tree this morning.
Sserubugo is alleged to have committed suicide on Tuesday night.
Hellen Kyomuhendo, the acting District Police Commander Kayunga says Sserubugo’s body was found by relatives hanging on a tree this morning.
Police have since cordoned off his home to establish the facts behind his death.
Sserubogo was last month sworn in as the new District Chairperson on the National Unity Platform-NUP party ticket, succeeding Tom Sserwanga.
His opponents in the election were; Andrew Muwongo of the NRM party, Thomas Muwanga, Boniface Musisi, Fred Ssemyalo, Patrick SSempijja and Dan Wabomba an Independent.
It is unclear what could have pushed him off the edge to commit suicide, but NUP party members claim he could have been killed and the murder staged as a suicide.
Investigations have commenced.
