All tourist vehicles must be licensed by the Ministry of Works and Transport and attached to tourism companies registered and licensed by Uganda Tourism Board, if they are to be allowed service during the 42 days’ partial lockdown, Uganda Tourism Board has said.

During his speech on Sunday evening, President Yoweri Museveni announced that tourist vehicles would continue operations, despite the ban on interdistrict travels.

Now, UTB says all tourists are encouraged to carry their detailed travel itineraries especially for inter-district routes, tourist guides accompanying tourists must carry their identification, tourists are encouraged to carry proof of payment for accommodation and tourist activity fees such as; national park entrance fees and permits where applicable and that COVID-19 SOPs must be adhered to in tourist vehicles with attention to social distancing, wearing of masks and sanitizing.

Lilly Ajarova, the UTB Chief Executive Officer says Tourism in Uganda remains open and accessible to all.

“To continuously explore and relish Uganda’s beauty, we call upon all Ugandans and tourists to be vigilant and follow the recommended measures by the Ministry of Health and report any suspicious cases to the toll free numbers here: 0800 100066 and 0800 203033” she says.
