Police have arrested a monstrous father, step mother and two other people for engaging in child sacrifice in Mubende district.
Wamala Regional Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala identified the suspects as Charles Nyanzi who allegedly sacrificed his ten-year-old daughter Sharon Nantume in the pursuit for riches.
He was arrested alongside his fiancee Diana Tugabiirwe also the child’s step mother. Also arrested is a traditional herbalist Sserukeera Deo, and his wife Nabukeera Margaret who helped the couple commit the heinous act.
According to residents of Nabikakala village in Mubende Municipality, Nyanzi has for some time told them about a charm he purchased to make him rich, but never divulged details.
Kawala says that all the suspects are under custody at Mubende police station as investigations continue and has warned locals against participating in ritual sacrifices, acts which are both inhuman and illegal in Uganda.
