Border security at Elegu Border post in Amuru district have arrested a South Sudanese soldier over illegal possession a firearm. 

The soldier has been identified as Private John Akot Deng who was found with a star pistol loaded with three rounds of ammunition. 

According to Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Deng was apprehended on Monday evening by security at Elegu border check point shortly after entering Uganda illegally. 

Deng is attached to the Tigger Battalion in Jebel Detach in South Sudan and the suspect is being held at Atiak Police Station on charges of illegal gun possession.
