The police at Kawempe Police Station are holding one person in connection with robbery at Kawempe-Tula Shell Fuel Station where unspecified amount of money was stolen on Monday morning.

Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson identifies the suspect as Gerald Kakande, a Supervisor at the Pump station.

“We have arrested one suspect by the name of Gerald Kakande who is the supervisor of Shell Tula in connection to yesterday’s robbery. We are going to charge him with robbery and currently detained at Kawempe Police Station,” Onyango said.

On Monday, unidentified thugs traveling in a numberless car and a motorcycle attacked the employees of the petrol station, hit them with iron bars and left them unconscious, before running away with unspecified amount of money.

Onyango says that Kakande was apprehended on Tuesday on suspicion that he could have orchestrated the robbery. He however adds that police are still hunting for five more suspects who were reportedly captured by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.

Onyango adds that they have since established that about 8M was robbed in the robbery and investigation continues
