As reported by the New Vision,an enumerator in Nyakyera sub-county, Ntungamo district was raped by a bodaboda cyclist.
The 24-year-old graduate had been employed to enroll one of the villages in Kiziba parish in Nyakyera sub-county.
According to David Ajuna, the sub-county census supervisor, the girl was raped by the cyclist who was transporting her from Kiziba parish headquarters back home on Wednesday evening.
“We hired the cyclist to transport her back home. When they reached near her home, the cyclist branched off into a bush and demanded for sex. The girl refused but he overpowered her,” --- Ajuna
The cyclist identified as 'Saul Turihare' was arrested, but later escaped as he was being transported to the sub-county headquarters for safe custody.
The officer in charge of the criminal investigations department at Ntungamo Police Station, Gume Ssalongo, said the Police had arrested the cyclist who was transporting the suspect along with the local defence unit officer who was escorting them.
“We arrested the two to help with investigations. At times suspects escape from the Police, but we are trying to investigate if there was connivance,” Gume said.
