Police has confirmed that 8 were killed in a road accident along Jinja-Iganga highway at Namasoga village around 10:00 pm last night.
Eyewitnesses say the accident happened when a taxi, Reg.No UAV 157E that was travelling from Jinja district, collided head-on with a coaster, Reg.No UAT 805F from Iganga.
It is said that the taxi driver, a one Badru Lunobe who also sustained serious injuries was trying to overtake a trailer, but he ended up colliding with the coaster, yet both vehicles were over speeding at the time of the accident.
The police have since embarked on identifying the dead and registering the 20 causalities who are admitted at Iganga General Hospital.
