Buganda kingdom has donated 10 acres of land to PINA Uganda, a non-government organization that provides hope and support for vulnerable children and youths especially teenage mothers and those living with HIV.

The land will be used to build a rehabilitation center for child survivors of sexual abuse and sex trafficking in Ssese Islands. The donation is under a campaign dubbed “Roof and Equip Winnie.”

Nansamba Winnie Namusisi was sold by her father to a drunkard who defiled her. She is now a senior six candidate, but the trauma
At least 98 cases of sexual abuse are registered in Kalangala district every month. Unfortunately, less than 1% of the perpetrators are prosecuted for their crimes.

A one stop center that will be built by PINA is expected to provide victims of these cases with medical treatment, psychological support, emergency housing and long term rehabilitation.

Children painfully narrate how their own fathers give them out for sex to very old men who infect them with HIV. Fathers are then paid money as little as 5000 Shillings for the services if their daughters.

Asia Namusoke Mbajja the project owner says the rehabilitation services will be attached to a mixed farm for animal and crop husbandry to support activities such as gardening and bee farming.

“We envision that this will also provide income to sustain the services of the trauma center” she said. The project needs a funding of USD 30,000 which needs to be realized within the next 77 days, so as to attract an even bigger funding from Johnson & Johnson the manufacturer of ARV who promised to double the amount.

The “Roof and Equip Winnie” campaign targets at least USD 20 donation from each individual to realize the dream of helping these girls.
