Tolbert Musinguzi, the Ibanda district returning officer for the newly created Ibanda Municipality has this afternoon announced the nomination of three candidates to contest for the Ibanda Municipality Parliamentary Seat.

The ruling National Resistance Movement, NRM flag bearer Tarsis Rwaburindoli will tussle it out with opposition forum for Democratic change-FDC party candidate Alex Byarugaba as well as Robert Kiromba, an independent candidate. 

The returning officer guaranteed the candidates of the Electoral Commission's commitment to observe zero tolerance on vote rigging and violence during the elections. 

Ibanda municipality became operational in late 2016 alongside the municipalities of Buikwe, Nebbi, Kotido Sheema, Apac, and Bugiri.

Elections in the seven new municipalities will be held on July 19th 2018 and will cost 6 billion shillings.
