Nakawa Grade-I magistrate Noah Sajjabbi has granted Bail to three other suspects, arrested over the gruesome murder of former police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

This means all 23 suspects arrested in the aforementioned case are out, either on bail or charges against them were dropped.  The final trio to regain their freedom is Ali Mugoya, Ahmed Yusufu, and Hibwanji Sinani. A group of 23 suspects were arrested from various parts of the country and later charged with terrorism in the aftermath of the shooting that killed Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and Driver Godfrey Mambewa.

The trio was released this morning on a bail of 500,000 Shillings after presenting substantial sureties. Their council Anthony Wameri however had to plead with the chief magistrate for the bail money to be less after other suspects previously failed to raise bail cash of 2 million Shillings.

State Prosecutor Joyce Anyango had earlier challenged their release saying that it was likely to disrupt investigations. Adding that it was going to be hard to trace the suspects since they are all non-residents of the jurisdictions of Nakawa court.

But Wameli assured court that the three are not a threat to the security of the country, have not been convicted of any offense and that they are entitled to their freedom granted by the constitution.

The suspects have been in Luzira prison since April 2017, with exception of Ahmed Yusufu who has been in Nalufenya until two weeks back when he was transferred to Luzira. They return to court on March 6 for the mention of their cases.
