January has gone in history books as the most stressful and month of financial crisis especially in developing countries like Uganda where the saving discipline is still lacking.
In Uganda, most citizens are desperate after consuming their December savings during the Christmas and New Year’s festivities, while the month of January comes at hand with school fees and other family demands.
But this financial crisis will not be accepted by David Benge of Isingiro village Igomanda parish Hamurwa s/c who decided to marry off his 14 year old daughter for Uganda Shillings 1.5 million.
The Police in Rubanda are investigating circumstances under which the 14 year old victim was married off to a 75 year old Denis Tamukunzi of the same village on the 27/12/17.
Elly Maate the Police spokesperson for Kigezi region says they were notified and the two have been arrested plus the local council one chairperson one Shokyerera who was part of the congregation that attended the party and others still at large.
On interrogation, the victim told police she was willing to marry him because they have ever had carnal knowledge(sex). The old man is charged with defilement while the two are in for procuring defilement.
