Coleb Mwesigye, the Commandant of Aviation Police Assistant Commissioner of Police who has been implicated in a drugs scandal has died. Mwesigwa breathed his last this morning at Nakasero Hospital, where he has been Intensive Care Unit for two weeks.

According to the available information, Mwesigye was bedridden for almost two months and was moved to Nakasero Hospital when his condition worsened. The Deputy Police Spokesperson, Polly Namaye, says Mwesigye has left behind a widow and a young baby.

Mwesigye has been on the wanted list by the Police Flying squad for his alleged involvement in the 85kgs Cocaine scandal involving Aviation Police.

He was one of the eight police officers implicated together with the Commandant of the Very Important Persons Police Unit-VIPPU, Dodovico Awita for tampering with the cocaine exhibit.

Awita was picked up last week together with six other officers and locked up at Nalufenya Police Facility in Jinja district. A source at the Flying Squad says the officer was tracked to Nakasero Hospital last week by operatives from the Flying squad led by their Commandant, Herbert Muhangi but they couldn't arrest him since he was on life support.
