Nakawa Court Grade One magistrate Noah Sajjabi has this morning released seven suspects charged with the murder of former AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi and two others on a Shillings 50M non cash bail each.

He also bonded the sureties at Shillings 500m non cash.

“I therefore find merit in the bail application and grant Sheikh Musa Ntende, Umar Maganda, Hassan Tumusiime, Ibrahim Kissa, Hamid Magambo, Abdul-Majid Ojerere and Ahmada Shaban Ssenfuka a non cash Bail each of 50 million shillings” Ssajjabi said.

The seven men are expected to return to court with the others still in jail on November 23rd 2017.

Through their lawyer Laudislas Rwakafuuzi, the suspects last week requested court to release them on bail as they have spent six months on remand without being committed to a High Court for trial.

By 10am this morning, the judge read his ruling, releasing the seven men.

Geoffrey Turyamusiima the lawyer to the accused told reporters after today’s victorious court sitting that when court sits again on 23rd, they will fight for the remaining 8 suspects.

“The matter has been adjourned to 23rd November. That means we have 2 weeks to come and bail out the remaining 8. We applied for court last time, but court was vigilant about the sureties. The extra 8 last time did not have sureties” Turyamusiima.

It is alleged that on March 17 this year with malice 22 people caused the death of Kaweesi, his body guard Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Wambewo , about 100 meters from his home in Kulambiro, Nakawa Division in Kampala.
