The long awaited report by Makerere University visitation committee, designated to investigate issues affecting the Ivory Tower is set to be submitted to President Yoweri Museveni any time soon.

News reaching Howwe.Biz indicates that the committee, led by chairman, Dr. Abel Rwendeire  is seeking an appointment with the Visitor (Museveni) to submit their findings, which will later be handed to the Vice Chancellor for action.

"We are done with report, we are only waiting for the opportunity to meet the president and we present it to him. We were told we would have time with the president and we discuss it with him. "It is not our report. It's the president who tasked us with work and we finalized and so they (statehouse) should be able to tell you when they are expecting us," Dr. Rwendeire said.

While setting up the committee in November 2016, President Museveni indicated that it would review the reports of earlier committees, find out what was or was not implemented, and make new recommendations, if necessary.

The committee came into action after the closure of the university at the height of strikes by staff and students. The staff laid down tools over unpaid incentives while students protested lecturers' boycott of classes.

The committee undertook a series of international bench-marking visits to find out how other countries and institutions are handling the challenges of managing education in the 21st century, carry out investigations into allegations of gross mismanagement as well as students and staff welfare issues.
