The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) has this morning handed over gifts to Nabweru health centre, in Nabweru Sub County, Wakiso district, to boost work at the facility.

The company has renovated the health facility and provided essential medical supplies and equipment, as part of its corporate social responsibility to promote quality health care in UETCL projects.

Addressing the media at the facility in Wakiso this morning, UETCL Managing Director, Mr. W.K.Kiryahika, explained that Nabweru health centre is within the project area of the recently constructed Bujagali-Kawanda 220kV, Kawanda-Mutundwe 132kV transmission lines.

Kiryahika added that the organization saw a need to rehabilitate the health centre so as to provide quality health care to the people of Nabweru and its environs.

“The strategic location of the health centre is good to provide essential health services, particularly maternal and child care, to door steps of about 14,000 people in the area and its environs” the MD added.

The equipment has been equipped with sanitary materials, maternity beddings and blankets, renovation of patient wards and provided with solar equipment to cut on the monthly electricity bills at a cost of 30 Million Shillings.

Once equipped, the health centre will be able to handle the growing number of expectant mothers and other patients seeking medical services.

Rosemary Seninde woman MP who was the chief guest at the handover event this morning, asked leaders and residents to maintain the materials donated to them.

She asked them to be responsible, explaining that if not well maintained, the equipment won’t last.
