The pilgrims, compromising of women, men, boys and girls, will trek for 430kilometers to Namugongo. The oldest pilgrim is 79-year-old Philip Bazimenyera from Bunagana Parish in Kisoro District.

The other pilgrims are drawn from Kinanira Parish, Soko, Rubuguri, Ruhengeri in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Hundreds of excited family members, relatives and friends thronged Rushoroza Cathedral to flag off their loved as they set off for Namungongo.

Pilgrims from Kabale always trek to Namugongo since 2009 when the 65 Pioneer Pilgrims successfully made it

on foot. Peter Kabagambe, the leader of the pilgrims told URN that all the pilgrims were in good health and prepared for the long walk to Namugongo.

He explained that the pilgrims will pay for peace, Faith, Love and development once they arrive in Namungongo.
